Welding machines for the laser transmission process

Joining of translucent and opaque plastic parts using concentrated radiation from fibre-coupled diode lasers (if necessary also Nd:YAG solid-state lasers or fibre lasers) with the laser transmission or quasi-simultaneous process:
  • Shock-free, vibration-free welding process.
  • High weld strength approximating the base material strengths, comparable to those in hot plate and vibration welding.
  • Laser powers from 50-500 W, scanning welding heads for max. velocities of 10 m/s.
  • Moulded part tolerances are melted off in a controlled manner (with weld bead).
  • A broad spectrum of part sizes is possible.
  • Reliable process control in the welding process (control via melt-off path or time).
  • Three-dimensional welding line possible, visible collimator ray laser for teaching mode, CAD data programming.
  • Extremely high flexibility during production (e.g. by use of tool-carrier change systems).
  • Special systems of all kinds for large production run.

Application examples:

  • Automotive industry: Motor-driven actuators for air intake manifolds and central locking systems, auxiliary water pumps, engine compartment sensors, distributor systems, cockpit and filter housings, steering oil containers, hydraulic oil tanks and compensating tanks, gear shifting gates for automatic gearboxes, airbag sensors, etc.
  • Classic “light/dark connections” (e.g. tail lamps/headlights with plastic distribution plate, side flashers) and other products with a transparent and absorbing welded part.
  • Non-automotive industry: Shock-free welding of sensitive small parts and thermally sensitive materials (medical/electrical/electronics industries).
